Privacy Policy
This policy explains which personal information we process, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights.
1. Who we are

2. Applicable law
We comply with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (“POPIA”). Where our services are offered to people in the European Union, we also comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).

Fields marked with an asterisk in our forms are needed to reply to you; without them we cannot handle your enquiry. Other fields are optional.
We do not ask for any health information on this site. Please do not send us medical information through our forms.
4. Recipients
We never sell your information. It is accessible to the Cape Ride Adventures team and, where relevant, to:
- Lovable (website hosting) and Cloudflare (delivery and security);
- Supabase (form processing) and Resend (delivery of form emails to our inbox);
- our email provider;
- WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to message us on WhatsApp;
- Google: Google Analytics if you accept it, and Google Forms for the pre-ride confirmation form;
- Wise, for bank transfer payments;
- our motorcycle rental partner;
- public authorities, where the law requires it.
5. Transfers outside South Africa
Some of these providers process information outside South Africa and the European Union, in particular in the United States; Wise processes payments from Belgium. These transfers rely, as the case may be, on their being necessary to answer your enquiry or perform your contract, on the contractual data protection safeguards offered by these providers or, for analytics, on your consent (POPIA section 72; GDPR Chapter V where it applies).
6. Retention periods
- Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: 12 months after the last exchange;
- Customer files, contracts and invoices: 7 years (accounting and tax obligations);
- Acceptance of terms and of the risk document: 3 years after the ride, or until any dispute is resolved;
- Photos: working copy deleted 12 months after delivery, unless a promotional consent is in force;
- News and offers: until you unsubscribe, or 3 years without contact;
- Google Analytics: 14 months; Google Analytics cookies: 13 months at most;
- Your cookie choice: 6 months, after which we ask again.
7. Your rights
You may request access to, correction or deletion of your information, object to processing (in particular, at any time and without giving reasons, to direct marketing), withdraw your consent for the future and, where the GDPR applies, request restriction and data portability.
Write to us at info@caperideadventures.com. We reply within 30 days and may ask you to verify your identity.
You may also lodge a complaint with South Africa’s Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za) or, if you live in the European Union, with the authority of your country (in France, the CNIL).
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information: access limited to those who need it, protected accounts, encrypted connections. In the event of a data breach, we notify the authorities and the people concerned where the law requires it.
